With over forty years of experience in designing, manufacturing and supplying schoolwear, we are committed to providing our customers with an unrivalled service in both the quality of our products and our customer care.
All of our garments undergo rigorous testing to ensure that they stand up to the day to day wear and tear of school life. They have been designed to follow current fashion trends, allowing Winterbottom’s garments to be worn with pride.
The history of Winterbottom’s Schoolwear…
Like most successful businesses, Winterbottom’s Schoolwear started with a simple idea. Graham Winterbottom started his clothing career working as a trainee in the garment manufacturing industry. At that time, garments and fabrics were made in the UK and Graham’s experience in every aspect of the trade grew quickly.
In 1977, Graham embarked on his first independent venture manufacturing a single style of school trousers in the UK, to be sold and supplied to most of the leading retailers of the time. Graham’s understanding of the whole value process, from dyeing and finishing to final sewing, led to the development of a collection of schoolwear, perfectly suited for the purpose.
In 2015, Jonathan Lowe, our Chairman, acquired Winterbottom’s Schoolwear through his holding company. Since the acquisition, Jonathan, who is also Managing Director for clothing manufacturer Albion Limited, has been concentrating on strengthening the Winterbottom's Schoolwear supply chain and improving the company infrastructure. Albion has been around since 1896 and makes over 4 million garments each year.
As part of the company’s progression, in 2018, the customer service function was transferred to Albion’s group head office in Carlisle. Furthermore, the business has invested in a new warehouse facility, also in Carlisle.
We firmly believe that our customers deserve good prices, quality products and, above all, outstanding service; which is why we are investing resources into developing our processes and increasing our customer service excellence to the highest standard we possibly can.
